Music Publishing Group (UMPG) today announced the signing of an exclusive world-wide publishing agreement with J Records recording artist and songwriter BC Jean. The company will publish BC Jean's catalog and future works for the world.
BC Jean is featured as a co-writer of Beyonce's hit single, "If I Were a Boy," from the album, I Am...Sasha Fierce. The song topped 11 charts world-wide, peaking at No 1. on the UK Singles Chart, No. 1 on the European Hot 100 Singles chart, and No. 3 on the U.S. Hot 100 chart. The song was certified platinum after 12 weeks. In the UK, it became Beyonce's first certified Gold single, her highest selling solo single, and simultaneously the 68th biggest selling single of the last decade.
In a highly competitive situation, J Records, led by music business legends, Clive Davis, Chief Creative Officer, Sony Music Entertainment, Barry Weiss, Chairman CEO, RCA/Jive Label Group with Larry Jackson and John Ehmann, recently announced the signing of BC to their record label. BC's debut album is anticipated for release on J Records at the end of 2009.
