LONDON, UK (Robbie Williams Fans Website) - Robbie Williams is releasing an anti-war song as the B-side to his next single in April! The song, Happy Easter (War is Coming) is inspired by Beatle John Lennon's song Happy Christmas (War is Over), which was released in 1972 as a Vietnam War protest.

A spokeswoman for the pop star confirmed the song, a B-side to forthcoming single Come Undone, was written recently in protest at a planned attack on Iraq.

However the single, Come Undone, is not due to be released until April 14, meaning his protest may not be heard until after an expected US-led invasion of Iraq takes place.

The spokeswoman added that Williams had always planned to release the anti-war tune as the B-side, but recently changed its title.

Williams, who recently signed a deal worth 80m with British record label EMI, said he was terrified at the idea of a war in the Middle East.
He recently told a US interviewer: "I'm really scared, to tell you the truth. It's a really serious thing for me. I don't understand it. "I'm scared for everyone's future because I don't know who to trust. This is the first world event I've been grown up enough to watch and have a point of view about."

Timing

This will be the first time the former Take That star has addressed world politics in one of his songs, although he has supported anti-Aids initiatives and has also publicised prostate cancer treatment.

John Lennon's Happy Christmas was one of the pop singer's high-profile protests against war in Vietnam in the 1960s and 70s. He also staged the famous bed-in for world peace with his wife, the Japanese artist Yoko Ono.

Recent anti-war statements have been expressed by urban star Ms Dynamite, Coldplay singer Chris Martin, George Michael and Echo and The Bunnymen singer Ian McCulloch.

Michael famously pilloried the Bush-Blair relationship with his recent single Shoot the Dog, which drew an angry response in the US.
