Music Explosion A&R Showcase presented by Urban Threshold in October 2008. The event was judged by top level A&R executives from Jive and Warner
Music Group. His win led to an exclusive A&R meeting with Octavious "Doc Ock" Crouch, senior A&R of Universal Music.
Moreover, his rendition of the song "Everybody Else" featuring T-Pain was highlighted as "The Heater of the Day" on the No 1 web portal for Hip Hop, All Hip Hop.com.
No Gimmick is creating a major buzz with his latest single "Time." The single is garnering accolades and airplay on college radio stations and mixshows from around the country. Additionally, No Gimmick is receiving rave reviews. According to Talent Scout Connect.com, "The song Time is heartfelt and captivating." No Gimmick continues to write new songs regularly. He is currently in the studio working on his debut LP, which is scheduled to be released in the 3rd quarter of 2009. The LP will include a number of instant classics filled with No Gimmick's signature flow and banging beats.
No Gimmick was born and raised in New York in a military family. One of the nice things about growing up in a military family was that it afforded the opportunity for him and his family to see the world. He lived everywhere from Tennessee to Germany. While living in Germany, No Gimmick became very active in reading and writing poetry. During this time, he also started to write music. Music is the universal language and No Gimmick speaks it well. He is a breath of fresh air in a era where "material minded" rappers rule. He embodies the mind of a true poet.
No Gimmick will embark upon a 5 city tour in mid April 2009 to support his current single. The tour will include a spotlight performance at the 2009 A&R Power Summit on May 2nd in NYC.
