Seattle, WA. (Top40 Charts/ Glass Onyon PR) - Right on the heels of the new, self-titled release by Brilliant Sun, the disc has already gained the interest and imagination of the artistic community in Seattle and beyond. The first release (Perfect Girl) was highlighted by Seattle's own CBS affiliate KIRO radio and Brilliant Sun was recognized as one of the top 5 new bands in the Pacific Northwest. Then followed a very successful nationally syndicated radio interview with British DJ
Simon Barrett from Bloggernews.net. https://www.bloggernews.net/119351 & https://www.bloggernews.net/119326 The band is currently putting in place its spring and summer tour schedule.
Brilliant Sun consists of 4 of Seattle's most seasoned players, finally all together in one powerhouse band. Brilliant Sun delivers intelligent Rock 'n Roll with Jazz and R&B undertones, a rock steady beat and the musicianship that only these 4 veterans can deliver. The band includes Steven Lee Phelps (guitar/ lead vocals) Dino Matelli (bass guitar/vocals) Jeff Reiner (lead guitar/vocals) and Paul Kollman (drums/vocals).
Steven's music has been called 'Beatleseque,' with many influences covering a broad spectrum of musical styles. Delivered with relevance and honesty, his lyrics tell memorable stories throughout his unforgettable songs: A well-woven tapestry of lush sounds. Steven has had successful bands in L.A. and in England and is well-known in the business as a strong singer/song writer and guitar player. He has played with the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane's Addiction, Alice Cooper, The Thomp son Twins, the Jac kson 5 and many others.
Dino Mattelli is a Seattle-area bass player and songwriter with more than 25 years of professional musical experience. With a diverse background in pop, jazz and progressive rock, Mattelli focuses on ensuring songs provide musicians and listeners an uplifting dimension. Professionals have dubbed him "a true music man" with an ear for production, arrangements, and melody.
Jeff Reiner is the amazing lead guitar player and a songwriter who adds a distinctive sound all his own to the band. Like Steven, Jeff was raised in Los Angeles, and he's been playing guitar since he was 12. Besides being a perfect fit for Brilliant Sun, he has opened shows for The Police, Missing Persons, The Motels, Oingo Boingo, Gordon Lightfoot, and Richie Havens.
Paul Kollman is the solid drummer behind the rhythm section. His vocals add a third dimension to the music, and he has played and recorded with many Seattle-based projects. Paul recently joined Brilliant Sun after a year with Shelly and the Curves. He is both a versatile and exciting percussionist, and is a welcome addition to the band.
Requests and sales for the record are as diverse as the eclectic range of music available on the CD. Sales (quickly in 2nd pressing) have been tracked in Seattle, Los Angeles, and on the East Coast, as well as in England, Ireland, Spain, and Greece. Just recently, a shipment accompanied an agent to Tokyo to explore the market in Japan.
In the words of fellow singer/songwriter Chris Davis, "Stevie Lee Phelps is a musical genius." Steve grew up in Los Angeles, the entertainment capital of the world, and got his first guitar at the age of 10. It was a great time to be in L.A., and playing in bands such as The Shout and Cold September, Steve signed with Mystic Records in the 1984. His records got radio airplay, and he had shows in legendary Hollywood hotspots like the Troubador, The Whiskey A Go-Go, The Roxy, and other local clubs. One review of the Cold September album said "The best independent band I've heard this year."
Steve spent 10 years in England playing with his bands Uncle Jack and Vegas Kids. He played the circuit, from Bristol to Scotland, to London, Liverpool and Manchester. He traveled extensively while in Europe, spending time in Italy, France, Germany, and Belgium. Whilst in England, Steve had the privilege of a one on one conversation with Sir Paul McCartney.
Brilliant Sun is now exploring different venues for their intimate and exciting live shows on both the national and international stage, and also welcomes interest from major or independent labels regarding their new release.
