Minneapolis, MN. (Top40 Charts/ Real
Music Records) - Pianist and composer
Kevin Kern has just released his latest CD, Endless Blue Sky, on the Real
Music label. The new collection from this Billboard charting master of melody contains 13 original compositions comprising nearly an hour of exquisite piano music.
"This is my first album in three years and my first since relocating from San Francisco to Minneapolis." says Kevin. The change of scene is reflected by the new vitality in his music. For this CD recorded at Wild Sound Studios, Kern is joined by four of the Twin Cities finest musicians, Dean Magraw (acoustic guitar), Rebecca Arons (cello), Jill Olson (violin), and Gordon Johnson (bass), each of whom bring their own special magic to the music.
The CD opens with the lilting "Joy of the Journey" which sets the tone for the album. Highlights include "Velvet Green" featuring violin, cello, and piano and the album's title track, "Endless Blue Sky" with its lyrical guitar solo.
The Asia release of Endless Blue Sky includes a special piano solo arrangement of pop singer/songwriter Jay Chou's hit, "A Thousand Miles Away." This track has also been made available at the iTunes Music Stores worldwide.
Born legally blind, Kevin Kern found a glimmer of clarity in the piano at a young age and learned to see the world through music. "Growing up with impaired vision allowed me to develop a greater appreciation for the sound of the world around me," Kern said. "I've always enjoyed the thought of drawing people into my world by painting musical pictures for them. Now that I'm here in the Twin Cities experiencing four seasons again and an abundance of wildlife literally at my doorstep, those pictures have become even more vivid."
Kern's previous eight albums have earned top spots on the Billboard charts. His music has been featured in film and television in the United States in programs as diverse as Oprah, Live with Regis and Kelly, and The Late Show with David Letterman. Kevin's music was also a component of NBC's 2000 Summer Olympics coverage.
His international film and television credits include notable contributions to the score of the highly successful Korean drama "Autumn in my Heart", (which in itself has garnered a worldwide following) as well as the popular Mitsubishi SAVRIN theme in Taiwan among a host of others. His concerts in Asia regularly draw enthusiastic fans to sold-out venues.
Endless Blue Sky is available at fine music retailers worldwide and on iTunes.
