NEW YORK, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Atlantic Records) - Craig Kallman, Chairman and CEO of The Atlantic Records Group, today announced that Julie Greenwald has been promoted to Chairman and Chief Operating Officer. The two executives will expand their successful partnership that, among other achievements, has seen Atlantic reach the industry's No. 1 label position in the U.S. in 2008 based on strong performances from Kid Rock, T.I., Jason Mraz, Plies, Lupe Fiasco and the soundtrack to the film "Twilight." In addition to Atlantic's artist successes, a November 2008 New York Times story credited Kallman and Greenwald's progressive digital strategies for Atlantic Records becoming the first major label to achieve more than 50% of U.S. recorded music sales from digital products. Since 2004, Greenwald has served as President of the Atlantic Records Group.

Lyor Cohen, Vice Chairman, Warner Music Group and Chairman and CEO, Recorded Music - Americas and the U.K., said: "Five years ago I tasked Craig and Julie with the challenge of completely reshaping Atlantic into a music company built for the digital age. Not only did they rise to the occasion, but in just a few years Atlantic achieved a level of success it had not seen in decades. Most importantly, throughout the rebuilding process, they never lost sight of our core mission: signing and developing magnificent artists. With Craig's brilliant A&R vision and tireless entrepreneurial spirit and Julie's thoughtful, cutting-edge approach to artist development, we are fortunate to have one of the preeminent executive teams in today's music business. I congratulate Julie on this much-deserved promotion."

Kallman said: "This promotion recognizes that Julie has become my true partner. Her innovative management strategies and marketing brilliance combined with her incredible passion for our artists make her one of the most talented executives I've ever encountered. I'm thrilled we can lead Atlantic together, and look forward to many more years of creative success."

Greenwald said: "I'm really proud of the company Craig and I have built. I'm inspired every day to be working alongside the most dedicated staff and to have such a rich and diverse roster of talented artists. I'm confident we will continue to flourish within the house that Ahmet built."

At Atlantic, Greenwald has helped advance the careers of numerous top-selling artists, including Kid Rock, Rob Thomas, T.I., James Blunt, Diddy, Death Cab for Cutie, Gnarls Barkley, Missy Elliott, Jason Mraz, Lupe Fiasco, Staind, Paramore, Buckcherry, Shinedown, Flo Rida, Estelle, Plies, Trey Songz, O.A.R., and numerous others. She was twice named to the No. 1 position on Billboard's list of the Top Women in Entertainment and has also been featured as one of the Hollywood Reporter's Top Women in Entertainment as well as Newsweek's Women and Leadership list.

Greenwald, who joined Def Jam Records in 1992, established the label's award-winning marketing department and helped shape the company into an urban music powerhouse. Working with artists such as LL Cool J, Jay-Z, DMX and Ashanti, she and her team helped the label land dozens of platinum and gold records throughout the '90s. In 2002, she was simultaneously named President of Island Records and promoted to Executive Vice President of Island Def Jam. In these positions, she oversaw all aspects of the label that serves as the rock and pop division of The Island Def Jam Music Group and played an instrumental role in developing and promoting the careers of Sum 41, Kanye West, The Killers, Mariah Carey and Bon Jovi, among many others.
