Winnipeg, Canada (Top40 Charts/ Perms Official Website) - Winnipeg-based indie alt-rock group The Perms are gearing up for the release of their fourth full-length studio album entitled "Keeps You Up When You're Down".
The 12-track CD is expected to hit store shelves on March 3rd, and release shows will follow up a month later in Winnipeg (The Cavern, April 4th) and Brandon (Clancy's Eatery and Drinkery, April 5th).
KYUWYD was recorded in Winnipeg at Unison Studios and was produced by Phil Deschambault (Ash Koley). The band transitioned back to a three-piece for the recording, resulting in a more harder-edged, guitar driven sound on the album.
"The songs warranted a more stripped down, straight ahead rock sound that works really well with a three piece," says Shane Smith. "The goal for this record was to make a strong album from start to finish, and I think we've accomplished this."
The first single off the album "Give Me All Your Lovin" has done very well on rock radio across Canada and has reached No 1 on KICK.FM and has just been added to regular rotation on HOT 103. A music video for the song has been shot by local director Jeff Bromley, and will be serviced to media at the start of March.
"The response from the new single has been overwhelmingly positive," says guitarist Chad Smith. "The track has a great vibe and it's one of those songs that just connects with the listener.
Cuts from the album will be available for listening on the bands myspace page, and a video of the band's time in the studio can be seen on Youtube.
The Perms are a three-piece rock'n'roll band made up of Shane Smith (bass/vocals), Chad Smith (guitar/vocals), and Jaime Carrasco (drums). The band formed in 1998 and has released three albums prior to KYUWYD - Better Days (2005), Clark Drive (2002), and Tight Perm (1998).
