New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - The Soul of John Black has confirmed a hometown showcase of music from their forthcoming album 'Black John' (Feb 17/Eclecto Groove) at The Mint on January 17th. Leader John Bigham's deep R&B vocals meld with soul-filled grooves infused with blues, gospel, hip-hop and world music, crafting a modern approach to soul. The staccato bass, swinging guitar licks and driving drum beats round out the album with an energy reminiscent of funk greats. Bigham is no stranger to the LA music scene; he has toured with the Miles Davis band, for eight years he provided keyboard and guitar for rock-funk-ska band Fishbone, and has toured and done session work with Dr Dre, Eminem, Nikka Costa, Bruce Hornsby and Everlast. The Washington Post has called The Soul of John Black "refreshing" and the Chicago Sun-Times raved they are "impeccable." LA-based Eclecto Groove will release 'Black John' on February 17th, 2009.
