LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Michael
Holden Official Website) - Michael
Holden started his singing career in his church choir at the age of 12 and went on to sing as the lead singer with the local Group the Devastations of New Orleans.
He was inspired by such artists as Russell Thompson Jr. of the Stylistics, Eddie Kendrick of the Temptations, and Smoky Robinson of the Miracles. At the age of 18, while performing at a nightclub, he was heard by Virgil Engeran, the owner of VIRGIL Records. His first recording on the Virgil Records Label was Since I First Laid EYES on you, which was arranged by Wardell Quezerque.
Michael Holden had a strong desire to perform, and did with such enthusiasm that he made audiences scream for more. He says he enjoys singing. This goes back to the days when he felt that way with the church choirs. Early in his career, he practiced with Elliott Small, Lee Bates and Cliff Brimmer, which is the reason for his smooth falsetto style. He says he never has to move when performing; he considers the stage to be a podium. He recalls his best time working at Lee Dorsey's Ya, Ya, Club.
Michael Holden has sung at Televised Fund Raisers for the New Orleans Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation. Preformed with Lee Bates, the Family Player's, Survival and his group best of New Orleans. With the release of his new single Thinking of You, Michael Holden says he believes that this is the right time to reenter the local music showground and is enthusiastic about it.
