New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Each year the Library of Congress selects a small number of audio recordings to preserve for all time in the National Recording Registry, based on their historical, artistic or cultural importance to our society. Herbie Hancock's 'Head Hunters' was recently picked for the 2007 National Recording Registry, alongside selections including Harry S. Truman's legendary address to the Democratic National Convention in 1948 and the first trans-Atlantic radio broadcast in 1925.

'Head Hunters,' released in 1973, featured just four tracks, two of which, the classics 'Chameleon' and 'Watermelon Man,' are featured on the essential Hancock collection 'Then and Now: The Definitive Herbie Hancock.' A first-ever career retrospective of the jazz visionary's unparalleled work, the 12-track CD chronicles five decades, featuring music spanning Hancock's illustrious career from Blue Note, Warner Brothers and Sony, to his present days with Verve.
