NEW YORK (Jorge Moreno Official Website) - Having already won this year's "Best New Artist" Latin Grammy Award, and notching a "Video Of The Year" nomination for Univision's "Premio Lo Nuestro Awards," it looks like the award recognition is continuing for Jorge Moreno's self-titled debut. Earlier today, The Recording Academy (NARAS) announced that the Miami native (signed to Madonna's Maverick Musica label) has been selected as a Grammy nominee for Best Latin Pop Album. This announcement comes only days after the National Hockey League announced that Jorge has been selected to perform the "Star Spangled Banner" at the 53rd NHL All-Star Game on February 2nd. Moreno is ging to join Sheryl Crow & Goo Goo Dolls as performers at the February 2nd Event at South Florida's Office Depot Center. With the event set to take place at the Office Depot Center in Sunrise, FL, Moreno was a natural choice to join the roster of talent that also includes performances by Sheryl Crow and The Goo Goo Dolls. Jorge Moreno's performance of the National Anthem will see him following in the footsteps of previous NHL All Star Game anthem performers such as Shania Twain, Celine Dion, the Backstreet Boys, Jewel, Bare Naked Ladies, and (Moreno's label-mate on Madonna's Maverick Records) Alanis Morissette. This continues a string of high-profile appearances for Moreno, following his recent performances on Good Morning America, CBS' All-American Thanksgiving Parade, and as musical headliner (alongside grand marshal Kelly Ripa) at South Florida's famed Winterfest Parade. Jorge Moreno will also be seen nationally later this week (Thursday January 9th) as he performs on the top-rated Univision morning Show Despierta America.
