SAN FRANCISCO, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Blind Pig Records) - The late R&B pioneer Nappy Brown has won three Living Blues Awards in the magazine's 15th Annual Critic's Poll. Nappy received the Most Outstanding Blues Singer and Comeback Artist Of The Year Awards, while his comeback album on Blind Pig Records, Long Time Coming, was voted Album of the Year. Brown, who passed away in September, returned from obscurity with the release of his brilliant final album in September of 2007. The critically acclaimed CD led to Brown's being re-discovered and heralded for his role as the forefather of Rhythm & Blues. The album's producer and Brown's longtime friend, Scott Cable, said, "Nappy would have been really knocked out and truly honored to receive these awards for doing what he loved most - entertaining the fans and singing. There is a line in 'Keep On Pleasin' You' that says "my joy out of life is really pleasin' you," and that truly was Nappy's joy - pleasing the fans and making music. I would like to thank Blind Pig, the band and everyone involved on behalf of Nappy and myself."
