Miami, FL. (Top40 Charts/ WattsUp! Records) - Colombian artist Monica Giraldo has been nominated for a Latin Grammy for Best New Artist category. Her album "Todo da vueltas" on the WattsUp!/Codiscos record label, has been getting rave reviews in the music industry. She has been described as a Norah Jones in Spanish, with her Jazzy and Bossa Nova tones, combining traditional Latin elements and a pure acoustic production.

Monica Giraldo won Billboard's songwriting contest for Best Latin song in 2007, as well as the Billboard's "We hear the future" showcase in Miami. After this, Billboard Magazine invited Monica to perform for Billboard Underground in New York City. Monica Giraldo is the Latin buzz artist to watch. A must for world music fans.

WattsUp records gets first Latin Grammy nomination after less than 3 years of launching

WattsUp! Records, the Miami record label specializing in Latin alternative and pop artists, has received a first Latin Grammy nomination for Colombian artist Monica Giraldo, whom is up for Best New Artist.

WattsUp! Records is no stranger to awards, having won the Billboard "We hear the future" showcases back to back in 2006 and 2007.

"Since the beginning, we have had a strong focus on A&R and Artist Development. Our philosophy has been to only look for career artists. And our strategy has worked" said Dennis Murcia, International A&R for the label.
"The industry is going though a transitional phase to say the least, but one thing that won't change is that the public will always want great artists. Our contribution to improving the industry is to bring back the discouraged consumer, by only putting out interesting music". Other artists on the roster include rock pop act Gato Blanco and Latin rock band The Monas. All of these artists can be found on iTunes.
