New York, NY. (Top 40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - For two-time GRAMMY nominee Ledisi, the upbeat, retro-soul song "Be There for Christmas," from her forthcoming album 'It's Christmas,' brings back some of her favorite childhood memories of dancing and singing at the holidays. "When I was young," remembers Ledisi, "my family danced all day and into the night on Christmas. At church we would clap to Christmas songs, come home and dance to Motown Christmas hits, and after dinner and late into the night, the grown folks would dance to a slow Christmas bluesy song and reflect on how blessed we were to have one another." "Be There for Christmas," co-written by Ledisi and Rex Rideout (who also helped produce the album and played piano and Rhodes), is the perfect song for a new generation to show their holiday spirit on the dance floor. Ledisi's 2007 major label debut 'Lost Found' garnered the Bay Area resident two GRAMMY nominations including Best New Artist. The recognition led to a series of high-profile appearances this year including performances at the JVC and Monterey Jazz Festivals and the Essence Music Festival, a role in the George Clooney film Leatherheads, a song in the Tyler Perry film Meet The Browns, a performance with Prince at Coachella and on the Tonight Show and a BET award nomination. Her powerhouse voice and stories of everyday struggles and triumphs have made such a strong connection with fans that her singles "Alright" and "In The Morning" as well as the album 'Lost Found' continue to appear on the Billboard charts more than a year after the album's release.
