LOS ANGELES, CA. (Eleven
Seven Music)--Multi-platinum rock sensation TRAPT's third album, "Only Through The Pain," now available on Eleven
Seven Records (the #1 independent rock label: The Motown of Rock), debuted this week at the top of the charts. During the first two days, the album was the #1 rock album and #5 overall at iTunes. Additionally, the album is a Billboard Top 20 release, including Top 5 appearances on several other Billboard charts -- #2 Top Hard Album, #2 Top Independent Album and #4 Current Alternative Album.
Released August 5th, "Only Through The Pain," teams TRAPT with Gggarth Richardson (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against The Machine, L7) who co-produces the album along with the band. Reconvening with Richardson after the successful collaboration on the band's 2002 self-titled debut album, confirms that the current CD delivered on a promise that fans have obviously been waiting for. "We returned to the studio to record an album that says something about where we've been, and also how we've evolved as a band over the last few years," says Chris Taylor Brown (lead vocals). "The theme for the record is we've got to go through the worst times in life to appreciate the best times in life," Brown continues.
"Only Through The Pain" highlights the California-based band's trademark, ability to deliver melodic tunes alongside hard-driven rock tracks. "The one-two explosive punch of 'Wasteland' and the single 'Who's Going Home With You Tonight?' provide fans with the heavy and driving TRAPT. The tracks are some of the best tracks of the band's career and are instantly memorable," raves 411Media.com.
The video for the first single from "Only Through The Pain," "Who's Going Home With You Tonight" is an alluring clip directed by Paul Brown (Motley Crue, Marilyn Manson), which follows the tale of a cheating girlfriend from the perspective of a songwriter scorned. The appeal of the music video meant early supporters coming to the table, including Xbox Live who premiered the video as a free download for the month of June. And as an added element of freshness, TRAPT created three "trailers" as the back story to the clip which can all be viewed on their own social networking site www.onlythroughthepain.com, which as chance would have it -- has a back story itself.
"We decided to create our own unique social networking site for TRAPT fans because of our frustration with MySpace," says Brown, adding, "its simply a way for us to eliminate the middle man, or third wheel so to speak." TRAPT's manager Drake Sutton-Shearer references Brown's thoughts as something that is not at all shocking to hear from an artist and band that continues to defy others expectations. Says Sutton-Shearer, "In this instance MySpace wasn't driving enough traffic to us, while we continued to drive fan traffic towards them. The read between-the-lines here is clear."
Plenty of support has existed elsewhere, notably from Xbox Live (the aforementioned video debut), and Imeem.com (streamed the album for the week of release), who combined set the groundwork for the single's phenomenal successes following the album's week of release. Taking a huge leap, the single's digital sales have jumped 40% in the last three days and show no signs of slowing down.
TRAPT is currently on the road with the Crue Fest tour alongside Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Sixx: AM and of course, Motley Crue. But, in September, fans will be able to catch TRAPT on a month-long, headlining tour that kicks off in Virginia. See dates below:
