New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Multi-instrumentalist virtuoso Josh Fix displays a penchant for finding inspiration behind the wheel on his debut album 'Free At Last' (out now on 1650 Entertainment). As Josh explains, both his poignant power ballad " Burn It Down" and the country flavored "Rolled in from the South" were born from his unlucky driving experiences. "I found myself driving alone and lost at 3 a.m. somewhere between Corpus Christi and Harvey, LA in a rickety old company truck when the storm actually hit. When you've been at sea for any extended amount of time, even when you're on land you still feel the sensation of being on the water- this was an especially eerie feeling given the zero visibility, the storm conditions, the rickety truck, oh yeah- and the fact that my girlfriend back home had just left me." Incidentally, though his stormy escapade inspired the song as a whole, Josh notes that the bass part in the coda was inspired by Iron Maiden's Steve Harris. The new single "Burn it Down" was also originally inspired by an ill-fated road trip from Josh's past but also describes a turbulent relationship. "This song was originally going to be about getting stranded overnight somewhere in the middle of Sonoma County, CA, when a friend's car ran out of gas late one night, but somehow ended up as an ode to uncontrollable repetitive, self-destructive romantic habits...and enjoying their consequences, no less."
