Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Slant Records) - Newcomers Zane Lewis (Slant Records) and Becky Schlegel (Lily Ray/IGO Records) have received their first nominations from the French Association of Country Music. The final round of voting takes place during the 13th Equiblues Country Music Festival (August 14-17), held in St. Agreve, France, and attendance typically tops 20,000. The winners will be announced on September 27, during the 6th annual French Country Music Awards event. Nominated for Independent Artist of the Year is country-rocker Zane Lewis, who stole the show at the Hard Rock Cafe Outdoor Stage during last week's CMA Music Festival. Zane's sophomore CD, ZANE LEWIS, has already given the Texan a hit with the ballad 'Come With Me.' His new single, 'Welcome To The Southland,' is generating rave reviews and early spins. Other nominees in this category include Mark McKinney, Jason Meadows, Jackson Taylor and Aaron Watson. Minneapolis-based contemporary bluegrass singer/songwriter Becky Schlegel's worldwide debut country single, 'Bound For Tennessee,' was released earlier this month. The track is from Schlegel's June 17 CD release, FOR ALL THE WORLD TO SEE. Becky joins Donna Hughes, Rhonda Vincent, Sierra Hull and Dailey & Vincent, in the nomination for Best Bluegrass Band of the Year.
