New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Nation Beat, the collective of Brazilian and Brooklyn musicians who seamlessly join Brazilian maracatu rhythms with American roots music, routinely turn their shows into giant dance parties.
However, for the release of their new album 'Legends of the Preacher' (Modiba/ July 15), they invite fans to experience their music in a new way- by creating the band's music video.
For Nation Beat's animation contest, fans can download files of the album's original artwork featuring the band members as cartoon characters, as well as audio clips of songs from the album, and use them in a 60-90 second video which they then post on YouTube.
The winner will receive a $500 cash prize and the video will be posted on Nation Beat and Modiba's websites, myspace pages, and a variety of other media outlets coinciding with the record release. Deadline for submissions is July 15.

Says Modiba records President Eric Herman, '"We're excited to be able to extend Nation Beat's mad scientist philosophy from music to animation and open it up for anyone on earth to join in on!'.

'Legends of the Preacher' is already earning critical praise for its melting pot of musical genres. NPR music contributor Banning Eyre wrote in an early review of the disc that 'Nation Beat's marriage of Americana—from second-line backbeats to Hank Williams—with the funky folklore of northeast Brazil is nothing short of inspirational' (Afropop.org).
