BURBANK, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Warner Bros. Records) - "Hollow Man," the second single from R.E.M.'s new album "Accelerate," will premiere exclusively on MySpace TV at noon PDT on Wednesday, April 23rd. Its prominent placement on various pages throughout the social-networking website ensures that millions of people will be able to view the video as soon as it goes live.

The video for "Hollow Man" was created by Crush Inc. - a cutting edge graphic-design and production studio based in Toronto. "We loved what Michael Stipe said about the meaning behind the lyrics of 'Hollow Man,'" says Gary Thomas, Crush's founding partner and creative director. "We all fear losing who we are, so we wanted to build on the idea of isolation as our theme. In terms of style, we took a page from Michael's approach to writing and recording the new record, so a modern approach to the 'punk' aesthetic was used. Consequently, our devices emerged and the 'Hollow Man' became three people: a digital avatar, a roughly drawn representation, and live action."

R.E.M. performed "Hollow Man" on "The Today Show" on April 1st, the day "Accelerate" was released. The album topped the Alternative, Rock, Digital, and Internet (physical goods) charts in the U.S. its first week, and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 chart - R.E.M.'s highest first-week chart position since the No. 2 debut of 1996's "New Adventures in Hi-Fi." The band also topped the AAA Radio chart with "Supernatural Superserious," the lead-off single from "Accelerate."

Recorded in Vancouver, Dublin, and Athens, GA, last spring with Grammy Award-winning producer Jacknife Lee, "Accelerate" has been called "a classic blast of rock and roll from a band at a new peak of its powers" by Rolling Stone, "a breathless tumble of hooks and harmonies" by the New York Times, and proof that "amplified, guitar-based songs can bring people together and even form the basis for a larger life," by the Los Angeles Times.

R.E.M. will tour North America in May and June with opening acts Modest Mouse and The National before launching an extensive European tour in July. Please visit www.remhq.com for all the latest news about the band.
