NEW YORK (Shakira Fans Website) - Shakira was the top winner at the first MTV Video Music Awards Latin America which took place in Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theatre. She took the audience by storm with her amazing vocal performance of "Inevitable". She won in all five categories in which she was nominated, receiving Video Of The Year for "Suerte", Female Artist Of The Year, Pop Artist Of The Year, Best Artist-North and Artist Of The Year.

The awards were voted on by fans throughout the Latin region via internet and it confirms that Shakira's fan base keeps growing no matter what language she chooses to sing in.
Another Sony winner was Mexico's "Sin Bandera", which won the Best New Artist - North.

The award show was aired live on MTV Latino, MTV2, MTV-Es and will air November 1st on MTV in the U.S. marking the first time the network programs a non-English language special.
