Victoria, BC (Top40 Charts/ Cordova Bay Entertainment Group) - Set for release April 8th, 2008, the self-titled Porkbelly Futures CD features a band made up of widely diverse members, including award-winning author Paul Quarrington on guitar and vocals; founding member of the Canadian Brass, Stuart Laughton on trumpet, mandolin, pedal steel, and guitar; singer Rebecca Campbell; acclaimed drummer and composer Martin Worthy; Toronto Symphony member Chas Elliot on bass.

The new CD is dedicated to the late Richard Bell, the keyboard player and accordionist who played with Janis Joplin, Blackie & The Rodeo Kings, Ronnie Hawkins and countless others, and who is heard with the Porkbellys on what turned out to be his last recording.

The band was formed in Toronto eight years ago as a Chicago blues-based group, but soon broadened its sound to include elements of country and rock as songs - often humourous and sometimes even literary - were added to the repertoire by Quarrington, Worthy, and Laughton.

Porkbelly Futures is setting off on dates in Quebec and the Maritimes on April 10, and will hold a release party in Toronto at Hugh's Room on April 29. On some of the band's dates, Quarrington will read from his CBC Canada Reads winner, King Leary, and his well-reviewed new book, The Ravine, published by Random House.
