NEW YORK, NY. (Top40 Charts/ KOVAS) - This Friday, when teens and other movie-goers flock to theaters to see Sony Screen Gem's "Prom Night," the 1980s classic horror-film remake, they'll expect - and receive - an edge-of-the-seat thriller. But they'll also discover the edgy tunes of KOVAS, a breakout music star whose songs are featured throughout the film and soundtrack, released this week by Lakeshore Records.

KOVAS has produced and remixed for some of the biggest names in music, including Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, De La Soul and more. But the New York musician is perhaps the industry's biggest kept secret to date. With an incredibly diverse cultural background, a talent for playing five instruments, and a passion for musical multitasking and mixing, KOVAS exudes fresh energy through a self-created, utterly unique genre. Think: a mesh up of hip-hop, rock, punk rock, electro and pop. Now, with his eclectic songs beating through the silver screen's speakers - all of which are written, performed and produced by KOVAS himself - the secret is out. With "Prom Night" (https://www.ereleases.com/pr/2008-KOVAS2.jpg) moviegoers will undergo a musical experience like never before.

"It's exciting to have my music included in this movie and to be a part of the project," KOVAS says. "The chosen songs came from 'The Arrogance of Youth' (https://www.ereleases.com/pr/2008-KOVAS3.jpg), an independent project that I released myself through my own private label, Ghetto Beat. About a year ago, a couple of music supervisors heard it, loved it and pitched it to the film's producer, who thought it was perfect for 'Prom Night.'"

Inspired by Stevie Wonder and Prince, both of whom have played every instrument and self-produced their albums, KOVAS is a true virtuoso. He composes the music, writes the lyrics, plays, sings, raps and produces his own material. "The Arrogance of Youth," a bold, musical mix-match representing different youth cultures, brands KOVAS' diverse talents and plays on his well-earned confidence as an independent producer. The debut EP is available on Ghetto Beat thru iTunes worldwide (https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewArtist?id=48326315) and other digital retail outlets.

About KOVAS
A New York native, KOVAS made his debut in 2000 at the age of 19 as both a producer and artist on the Tommy Boy Records release, De La Soul featuring KOVAS "Words and Verbs." KOVAS then produced records for Nick Cannon, Billy Crawford and Jeannie Ortega, and also remixed for Justin Timberlake's "Summer Love" and Chris Brown's "With You." MTV featured KOVAS on its recent season of "Making the Band" and its website (https://www.mtv.com/music/artist/kovas/artist.jhtml). KOVAS also voices two characters in the Rockstar videogame "Grand Theft Auto IV," out April 29, 2008. A musical "multitasker," KOVAS plays five instruments and, with an avid ability to compose and play any genre, he's a rising star, setting himself apart in the industry.
