LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Universal Indie Records) - Following the successful debut of the digital-only LP, Prepared For Glory, released in June of 2007, underground hip hop producer Cartel, is set to release a follow-up album on Hoodgrown Records/Universal Indie Records.

Scheduled for a May 5, 2008 release date, Tha Throwback is produced entirely by Cartel and features some of the most promising, upcoming MC's in the game right now. 'I've named it Tha Throwback… because it's a throwback to when hip hop artists actually cared about lyrical content.' states Cartel. 'Those who enjoyed the first album can expect to hear a tremendous growth in the production of this album. I'm still not interested in following todays production trends, but I have stepped up my beat game since the release of the first album.'

As with the first LP, Tha Throwback will be offered as a free download but with a twist. The 11 track album will be available as a free download and a version of the album containing 5 extra tracks, acapellas, instrumentals and possibly a video or two will be available for $5. 'I've been watching the music industry and the various models that the artists and labels are experimenting with', states CEO Christopher English, 'but no one is doing anything different model-wise in hip hop. No one is willing to take any chances. I don't mind being a trendsetter.'

New tracks off the album will be posted at https://www.universalindie.com. The original album, "Prepare For Glory" can still be download as well.
