Austin, TX. (Top 40 Charts/ Head On Records) - Austin's own blues mama,
Allison Thrash, is preparing to release a full-length album, "Fight Dirty," on her independent label Head On Records. The release, scheduled for
Spring 2008, coincides with Thrash's upcoming show at Zilker Garden Fest, Sunday, March 30th at 1pm.
Known for her bold and thought provoking lyrics and subject matter, Thrash has performed throughout Austin in such venues as La Zona Rosa, The Saxon Pub, The Broken Spoke, and Nuno's, as well as numerous clubs across the country. Her sultry voice and creative song writing even landed her a headlining performance at the sold-out 2005 NXNE Festival in Toronto.
Born into a music loving family, Thrash has devoted her life to the Blues. Before moving to Austin, she performed in Dallas and Houston in a variety of jazz and blues groups. Even from the very beginning she felt the call of the stage. After settling in Austin with her four Labrador retrievers, Thrash has focused on writing and performing, working with artists including Matt Hubbard (Willie Nelson, Fastball) and Ephraim Owens (Doyle Bramhall). She has also focused efforts towards television and film, writing under Labrador Hill Music, her independent publishing company.
The Zilker Garden Fest runs from Saturday, March 29th to Sunday March 30th and encompasses all that is good about Austin; green living, communal unity, collective responsibility for the preservation of nature, and, of course, live music. A licensed EMT and outspoken critic of family violence, Thrash is the embodiment of progressive thought that permeates Austin and makes her a perfect fit to perform. Her rootsy, organic style makes this show perfect for hardcore blues fans and casual listeners alike.
