NEW YORK, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Rykodisc) - "Oxford, England's Young Knives mix post-punk revivalism with a U.K. cast of the Office-meets-Devo aesthetic." - Spin

"...choppy, strapping post-punk packed with eccentric wit and whimsical narratives about British suburbia." - USA Today

The clever lads behind Young Knives, the critically acclaimed trio from Ashby De La Zouche, England, are at it again! Nominated for the 2007 Mercury Prize, Young Knives have wowed audiences on both sides of the Atlantic, and are set to release "Superabundance" on April 22, 2008. A North American tour will follow in late spring, with dates to be announced soon.

The first single, currently burning up airwaves in the U.K., "Terra Firma," already has a new video available on YouTube. You can get a glimpse of their off-the-cuff personalities here: https://youtube.com/watch?v=DABpRKJeq3o.

It's been quite a spell for this most distinctive trio of respectably dressed men. An inimitably tight trio, comprised of brothers Henry and Thomas 'House Of Lords' Dartnall, and school-friend Oliver Askew, Young Knives have delivered an album that listeners will find irresistibly addictive.

Constantly evolving and always appealing, Young Knives' "Superabundance" is the sequel to their feverishly popular first U.S. release, "Voices of Animals and Men." A band destined to redefine genres, better lives, and touch its listeners, their new release represents a natural progression for the Knives, who effortlessly weave their trademark catchy melodies with their quick-witted lyrics.
For the recording of "Superabundance," Henry built a writing studio in his farmhouse. After, they emigrated to Scotland to record in a space dubbed the Castle of Doom, where they emerged with an astounding set of new songs with producer Tony Doogan (Belle & Sebastian, Mogwai, Super Furry Animals, Dirty Pretty Things).

Henry reflects, "Castle of Doom... it was more of a relaxing place... We've not spent hours editing down tracks; we've gone off and thought about the songs, and had space when we needed it from each other. It's been more about performance and nailing the songs, rather than messing around with things we've already done... That's what Tony has brought to it."

Being able to quietly write and craft a classic, second album is a rare practice - especially when sandwiched between a relentless touring schedule that takes in all the major festivals and some rather high-profile promotional activity - and doubly so in such a quick timespan, but - somehow - the threesome have achieved it.

Rykodisc, the U.S. home of Young Knives, is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2008. As a way of saying thanks for supporting our music, Rykodisc is offering five free downloads on the 25th day of each month in 2008. The downloads are available at www.rykodisc.com. Keep listening!
