London, UK. (Top40 Charts/ Domino Records) - What do country singer/songwriter Pat Garrett and the UK's hottest punk rock group the Arctic Monkeys have in common? The song "Bad Woman", written and released by Garrett in 1969, covered and released by the Arctic Monkeys in December 2007.

The Pennsylvania native has been closely associated with country music, sharing the stage with many country legends including Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and George Jones, to name a few. Garrett's song "Old Timers" was cut by grammy award winner ('Joy to the World") Hoyte Axton. He's had six songs on the Billboard charts.. And he's even helped country superstar Taylor Swift get her start.

But Garrett cut his teeth in rock n' roll. In 1969 he was part of a group called Pat Farrell & The Believers, named by Diamond Record president Joe Kolsky in New York City. The young rock group, which included Keith Fister on drums, Russ Hix on rhythm guitar (and later Tim Heiniman on keyboards), Keith Van Etten on guitar, and Garrett on bass, then called Pat Farrell, recorded a number of self-penned tunes, including the song "Bad Woman", at a studio in Reading, PA with Clay Barclay and Pat Farraro. In 1998, Erik Lindgren, who owns a boutique record label called Arf Arf Records, which features regional bands, put out a compilation CD featuring the songs of Pat Farrell and the Believers. The CD was distributed through the internet.

Flash ahead to 2007. Recalls Garrett, "Erik (Lindgren) calls me and says 'I just read in Rolling Stone that one of the biggest punk rock bands in the world just covered your song, "Bad Woman". When he told me the name, the Arctic Monkeys, I said 'I guess they won't be playing Billy Bobs in Ft Worth!" Garrett laughs.

The Arctic Monkeys, from the UK, are heralded as one of the first acts to come to the public attention via the Internet. Their debut album Whatever People Say that I Am, I'm not remains the fastest-selling debut album for a group.

A clip of the original version, with Garrett on vocals, as well as the Artic Monkey version is on their website at www.arcticmonkeys.com. To order Pat Farrell & Believers CD call (888) 751 1300.
