New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Tricky Dilemma Recordings) - Newly formed independent label Tricky Dilemma Recordings today announced the release of "John P. Parker: Viewed From 9 Dimensions," the second full length CD from the New York based experimental-acoustic-electronica trio Tricky Dilemma. " John P. Parker: Viewed From 9 Dimensions" is distributed online through CDBaby.com and is now available.

Tricky Dilemma is co-led by Val-Inc (Steve Coleman, Vernon Reid, Geri Allen), guitarist Marvin Sewell (Cassandra Wilson, Jack DeJohnette), and vocalist/keyboardist Bruce Mack (Burnt Sugar, Black Rock Coalition Orchestra). The band also includes Afrofractal producer Muata25. Each band member plays multiple instruments in recording and performance. Tricky Dilemma recently recorded a live radio performance featured on WKCR's Live Constructions series which will be released in the near future. Mack is also the subject of a recent and well noted documentary about music education featured in the Tribeca Film Festival and currently in rotation on Starz called "When Fried Eggs Fly".

Tricky Dilemma is based in New York City. The band's CD release party and performance will be held at the newly opened world music venue - Drom on Tuesday, January 15th, 2008 from 6:00pm - 9:00pm. DJ Charles Blass aka Lovolution of WKCR 89.9FM will spin music throughout the evening. The CD artwork in its original form will also be shown with its' creator and design artist- vanOs available to talk about the art and its connection with the project. The event will be open to the public and there is no cover charge.
Drom is located at 85 Avenue A (bet. 5th & 6th Sts.), NYC -212-7771157.

"John P. Parker: Viewed From 9 Dimensions" is Tricky Dilemma's second full length CD, following 2003's release of "The Howling Necessity" on journalist/band leader-Greg Tate's TruGroid label.

The goal of the band is to explore and mediate dilemmas caused by unspeakable human emotion, pain and desire through improvised music and the creation of sound spaces. In live performance, the band creates various atmospheres as an escape for audiences to work out or forget their dilemmas. The band does this through improvised experiments using a blend of acoustic and electronic instruments.

In this new recording, the band pays tribute to the life and times of former slave, inventor and abolitionist - John P. Parker. Obviously an appropriate subject for Tricky Dilemma, the interest was fostered by Marvin Sewell who had first visited the town in which Parker lived and worked, alongside other fierce abolitionists. After being informed of Parker's accomplishments, Marvin then brought Parker's deep legacy to the band.
