SANTA MONICA, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Recording Academy) - The Recording Academy will be honored on the occasion of its milestone 50th Celebration by the Hollywood Historic Trust and Honorary Mayor of Hollywood Johnny Grant, in recognition of its groundbreaking contributions within the music industry. From professional development and cultural enrichment programs to advocacy, education and human services programs, The Academy will be the first music organization to receive an Award of Excellence on Hollywood Boulevard, joining many of the luminaries the organization holds as its members. The Award of Excellence will be unveiled on Thursday, Nov. 29, 11:30 a.m. at 7018-7024 Hollywood Blvd. (in front of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce offices). Accepting the honor will be President/CEO of The Recording Academy, Neil Portnow; Chair of The Recording Academy, Jimmy Jam; and other special guests to be announced.

"For the past 50 years, The Recording Academy's mission has been to recognize musical excellence through the GRAMMY Awards, assist musicians in times of crises and empower emerging music makers," said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy. "We remain just as committed to this mission for the next five decades and beyond, and feel privileged to be honored in such an iconic way for our efforts."
