NEW YORK (Top 40 Charts/ Yep Roc Records) - 'Angels of Destruction!' the new album by Marah (Yep Roc, January 8) is the sound of a band growing new musical branches while remaining true to their roots. And the result is their most accomplished work to date.

Newcomer Christine Smith (formerly of Jesse Malin's band) adds a completely new element to the Marah sound. Her piano playing is drenched in 20's and 30's jazz and vaudeville, best exemplified on songs like, "Can't Take It With You..."

Band founder and songwriter Dave Bielanko attributes the Eastern European feel of "Angels on a Passing Train" to the street sounds of his Polish neighborhood in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

"Coughing Up Blood" was inspired by "Hey! Bo Diddley." A simple tune with no real chord changes Dave describes the track as "The Rolling Stones imitating Chuck Berry imitating a pinball machine." The song was recorded live at the start of a 5-day session in a Brooklyn studio that produced the majority of the new record. The version on the album is the first take.
Marah will tour extensively behind this record with US dates starting in mid-January 2008. Stay tuned for more information.
