Los Angeles, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Animoto.com) - In their continued push to clean up hip-hop,
Master P and
Romeo are reaching out to fans and asking them to create a positive and clean music video. Beginning Wednesday, October 3rd, fans will be able to log-on to Animoto.com and create a free 30-second music video to "My Life," the first single off of the duo's clean father and son album, "Miller Boyz: Hip-Hop History."
Animoto.com, created by former MTV producers, uses high-end motion design and music-analyzing technology to make it easy for users to create professional-looking music videos from their photos and music. This is the first time a music label has joined forces with Animoto for a promotion of this kind.
"We are thrilled to continue offering our users soundtrack selections by exciting artists like Master P and Romeo and are honored to team up with the father and son duo to support their campaign for awareness," said Brad Jefferson, CEO & Co-Founder of Animoto.com.
Christian Vuong, Product Manager at GoDigital Music Group notes, "We are very pleased to be working with Animoto. Not only does their website make it simple to create personalized music videos, they bridge the needed gap of legalizing slideshows and music and create an amazing end result. Animoto brings back the fun and ease of slideshows that bump to the beat."
From October 3-October 31, a contest for the best fan video will run alongside this promotion. To enter, contestants will log in to Animoto.com, visit the 'music lounge' and select the featured hip-hop soundtrack "My Life". When finalizing their video, users will have the option to opt-in to the contest. Music videos will be judged based on photos promoting positive values including: family, education, friends, sports, and knowledge. Selected winners will win copies of "Miller Boyz: Hip-Hop History," P.Miller merchandise, and Animoto video credits. The top winner of the competition will also have his or her video featured on Master P & Romeo's MySpace profiles.
Master P, the rapper-entrepreneur who independently sold over 75 million records has made the conscious decision to clean up his lyrics as to provide an alternative to the explicit, derogatory, and negative music prevalent in the hip-hop industry.
"I can honestly say that I was once part of the problem and now it's time to be part of the solution," said Master P, who does not intend to change the message of hip-hop, but just wants to raise awareness of the explicit words and messages that are perpetuating an oppressive cycle.
Most recently. Master P spoke before the United States Congress during the hearings on hip-hop music. He has endorsed Barack Obama's bid for the presidency, and authored a book titled Guaranteed Success When You Never Give Up.
The album, "Miller Boyz: Hip-Hop History," is available exclusively at Wal-Mart stores and top digital retailers including iTunes, Rhapsody, and Napster
