NEW YORK (TLC Fans Website) - TLC joins a list of heavyweights--which already includes Jay-Z, Whitney Houston, Monica, Nas, and Ja Rule--in releasing a new album this November, as the group's new set, 3D, is due November 12. The first single, "Quickie," was produced by Dallas Austin and is scheduled for release in October. 3D was produced by
Timbaland & Missy Elliott, Rodney Jerkins,
Babyface & Darryl Simmons,
Edmund Clement, the Neptunes, and Organized Noize.
TLC's 3D will be the group's first release since member Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes died in April. The singer, who was killed in a car crash in Honduras, provided the title for the new album and the ideas for the visuals associated with the set.
Shortly after her death, groupmember Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas said that Lopes would not be replaced, "As for Lisa being replaced, never. You can't replace a TLC girl. The chemistry we have is something God gave us. You can't put that together."
Thomas also shared that, musically, 3D would be similar to group's three previous offerings, saying, "The last couple of albums, Lisa was only on, like, three songs, and she's on a few songs on this one. So, music-wise, it's the same."
