NEW YORK, NY. (Top40 Charts/ SpiralFrog PR) - SpiralFrog, Inc., the free ad-supported Web-based music service, today announced it has entered into agreements with Universal Music Canada and Universal Music Publishing Group, which will allow music from Canada's leading music company and the world's largest music publisher, to be utilized on its service. Publishing agreements allow SpiralFrog use of the underlying musical compositions. Music publishers control the rights to melodies and song lyrics and make their money licensing them. While SpiralFrog had previously licensed the catalog of UMG Recordings in the United States and Canada, these new agreements grant crucial rights from the world's largest music publisher. 'Ensuring composers and song writers are properly compensated for their creations is of paramount importance to SpiralFrog,' said Joe Mohen, chairman and founder. 'This is a landmark agreement for us, giving us rights to compositions by a substantial number of the world's greatest artists, such as Maroon5, Justin Timberlake, Coldplay, R. Kelly, Christina Aguilera, Linkin Park, Robbie Williams, Nelly, Keane and Britney Spears to Ravel and Puccini.' SpiralFrog provides an integrated entertainment experience for users with particular emphasis on the process of discovering new music and accessing a wide variety of content about the artists they are passionate about. Currently, SpiralFrog is being beta tested in North America, offering more than 770,000 songs for downloading and 3,500 music videos for viewing and/or downloading.
