(Top40 Charts/ Yep Roc Records) - On August 31, Bay Area icon Chuck Prophet will be the last artist to play at Sweetwater Saloon in Mill Valley, CA, which is closing after over thirty years as a Bay area musical institution. Elvis Costello and Jerry Garcia once jammed together in the room. The list of other musicians who have played at the venerable pub is astonishing, including Carlos Santana, Bonnie Raitt, The Flying Burrito Brothers, J.J. Cale, and Big Brother & The Holding Co. The BBC once taped a special on John Lee Hooker and Hot Tuna recorded a live album at the club. Sweetwater's landlords are renovating the building, leading to a dramatic rent increase for the club.
