The Michael Pedicin tour continues when the band arrives back in Philadelphia to play Chris' Jazz cafe on
September 8th, the Willingboro Jazz festival on
September 9th and Stumpos Italian Grill on
September 14th. The new cd has already generated buzz in the world of jazz and a few record deal offers have already surfaced for the Michael Pedicin Quintet. Another venue that Pedicin has nurtured and created in the Atlantic City area is The Jazz Hut located in the Gardener's Basin section of town.
The Jazz Hut at Gardner's Basin in Atlantic City New Jersey is the brainchild of Michael Pedicin and it is through his efforts and persistence that jazz players and enthusiasts from the NY-Phila. area have a place to play and sell their wares. Pedicins's influence on jazz, both mainstream and avant-garde, began in the 1980's and continues to grow even today with the anticipation of his new CD release and his live gigs in NY, Phila. and Los Angeles. Pedicin loves the comparison to the great John Coltrane and dedicates his own music to the memory of the Jazz legend. Now, along with Valentino, Rossi, Colangelo and Sarin, Pedicin has collaborated on what promises to be his best work to date, Everything Starts Now.
Count Michael Pedicin among the many jazz musicians who revere Coltrane, and consider his music to be a major influence and driving force in their musical quest. Pedicin, who has been compared to Trane and Brecker in so many reviews, has established his own voice, but not without always paying homage to the supreme force that was Coltrane. What Coltrane represented to the post-bop saxophonists, Pedicin seems to be as the force emulated by so many of the saxophonists that have been heard since the 80's... in all of the jazz idioms.
Coltrane was posthumously awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1992 and his music lives on thanks to musicians like Michael Pedicin.
