MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica (Ja Rule Fans Website) - A Montego Bay, Jamaica, Resident Magistrate Court judge issued a warrant for Ja Rule's arrest on Monday (July 29) after the rapper seemingly failed to appear in court to answer a year-old profanity charge, according to the Jamaica Observer. But, the warrant was later retracted after a date discrepancy was discovered between the summons and the court records. Attorney Nicole Allen, who represented the rapper in court on Monday, pointed out that the summons to appear in court that was issued to Ja Rule stated an Aug. 2 court date, while court records reflected a date of July 29. As a result, the arrest warrant issued in the morning court session was retracted, and the summons was re-issued to the rapper with the correct date. Ja Rule is wanted to answer profanity charges stemming from 2001's Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest festival, where he and seven other performers, including Snoop Dogg and Beenie Man, were charged for using foul language onstage. The rapper was in Montego Bay over the weekend to perform at the same festival, where he reportedly used profanity again in at least once instance. Ja Rule has four days to answer the re-issued summons, although local media have reported that the rapper has already left the Caribbean island. A spokesperson for Ja Rule did not return calls for comment by press time.
