LONDON, UK (Travis Official Website) - Travis will now be off duty for at least eight weeks to give drummer Neil Primrose more time to heal after his swimming pool accident on July 7. The latest cancellation is the V2002 festival on Aug. 17-18 in Chelmsford and Staffordshire, U.K.

"Whilst Neil is showing a better than anticipated improvement, the neurosurgeon's report prohibits Neil from drumming for a period of at least eight weeks to avoid aggravating the injury," explains the band's official Web site. "Whilst we are hugely disappointed not to be appearing at this year's V2002 festival, we feel that under the circumstances it would be wholly inappropriate to replace Neil while he continues to recover."

Primose added, "I am feeling sad not to be able to play at this year's big show. I would like to send lots of love and thanks to everyone for their recent messages of good will. The good news is, hopefully, a full recovery can be achieved over the next few months."

Primrose dove into the shallow end of a swimming pool, which resulted in multiple fractures of his vertebrae. He had to have two discs removed between vertebrae C5 and C6, and a bone graft from his hip was placed in a metal cage to support the fractured vertebrae.
