 NEW YORK (Billboardevents.com) - Billboard magazine will honor the careers of the Isley Brothers and Afrika Bambaataa with its first-ever Founder's Awards. The awards will be presented at the second annual Billboard-AURN (American Urban Radio Networks) R&B/Hip-Hop Awards show, to be held Aug.9 at Billboardlive in Miami Beach . They are being introduced to recognize artists for their artistic achievements and influence on others in the R&B and hip-hop genres, as judged by the editors of Billboard. The Isley Brothers' hits include "Twist and Shout, "It's Your Thing" and "Who's That Lady." Afrika Bambaataa, whose hits include "Planet Rock," is widely considered the godfather of hip-hop. The Billboard-AURN R&B/Hip-Hop Conference will be held Aug.7-9 at the Roney Palace in Miami Beach. The conference will include panels on the record/retail relationship, independent labels, urban radio in the digital age, radio programming and a gospel workshop.
