ABOUT SOUTHERN METAL RECORDS
Southern Metal Records was started by Dave 'Face' Gabbard, ex-singer of ABBY NORMAL and NOTHINGFACE out of the Baltimore/D.C. area. After years of recording and performing live, Dave settled down in Atlanta, GA. Dave finally built the studio he always dreamed of at his house in Atlanta (Bonnie Blue Studios) and got back to work in the music business. Dave Said, 'That's when the idea of Southern Metal Records came about. I was thinking about how Atlanta and the whole southeast had no rock market to speak of. I know with my ear and experience I can find the best bands around.' That's when the name Southern Metal Records first entered his mind. Dave said, 'Atlanta, Georgia needs a company to promote shows, sign and expose the right bands, and support the bad ass Atlanta rock market.
Southern Metal Records has been in business for one year in July. Dave signed STiiLPOiNT, an old school sounding rock trio with a brilliant new sound. STiiLPOiNT's debut album is finished and will be distributed through Universal/Fontana.
Dave's wife Laura Gabbard is the Director of Marketing. Matt Dameron, Vice President, Curt Shumate A&R, Rhonda Kelley of Rainmaker Public Relations joined as their publicist, and Eddie Wenrick of Wenrick Entertainment (Wenrick was Vice President of Epic, VP of A&R for Sony Columbia) just signed on as Consultant. Exposure of SMR's bands will be generated by major marketing, promotion, tours, street team, Radio, and commercial distribution.
