Southern California (Top40 Charts/ MusicMatters magazine) - With a number one album on the charts, Incubus is once again in the spotlight. And to add further glow to the already uber-bright beam settling on the group, Southern California's premier music magazine, MusicMatters, will feature Incubus on the cover of its May/June issue and a one-on-one interview with singer Brandon Boyd.

Writer Michael Caldwell, who says he knew little of the band before taking the assignment, learned a lot from his interview with Boyd. "The band has been very successful over their 15-plus-year career and are very popular with many people, but at the same time they don't feel over exposed." Caldwell says. "Also, the band changed its music a lot over time. Back in the day they were on Ozzfest, for example, but not now they sound more like Radiohead, or Pearl Jam. It seems as if their fans have come along for the ride."

The latest ride for Incubus fans is the group's new album "Light Grenades," which managed to bump Jay-Z off Billboard's top spot. Despite the fame and success that comes with singing for a chart-topping group, Caldwell says he found Boyd to be a "normal guy" during his interview. He attributes this to what he learned about Boyd's philosophy on life and his commitment to develop as both a person and an artist. "Those sentiments are something I think most people, whether their fans of Incubus or not, can get behind," Caldwell says "I hope people take that away from the story. That we all should be striving to do what we love and live for the moment as much as possible. That we should be able to look back on our lives and see the growth that has transpired. And if we are able to make some cool music, or whatever it is that we contribute, all the better."

Other contributions in the May/June issue of MusicMatters include Los Angeles-based fuzz rockers The Shys, San Diego's hip-hop artist DJ Artistic, Orange County rockers Fu Manchu, indie rockers The Broken West, international reggae star Ziggy Marly and Alabama folk rocker Eliot Morris.

MusicMatters is an all-gloss print, full-color magazine that focuses on stories about the Southern California music and art scene. The magazine is published six times a year by San Diego-based PassmoreLab and is available for free at various outlets and special events in Southern California. The online version of the magazine can be viewed at www.sdmusicmatters.com. The magazine focuses on the music, art and culture of Southern California.
