NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ By Lois Najarian/ Epic Records) - Jennifer Lopez recently said that her first ever Spanish language album Como Ama Una Mujer was a longtime dream for her to accomplish. And today her beloved project storms the Billboard Latin chart nailing the No 1 spot in its first week while also making a remarkable No 10 debut on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart.
She also makes history with the highest sales of a Spanish album debut, inclusive of English and Latin artists. With this chart-topping debut, Jennifer joins an elite number of only five artists to ever land in the top ten with Spanish-language albums; they include Shakira, Mana, Don Omar and Selena. In addition, Como Ama Una Mujer sold more in one week digitally than any other Spanish-language release ever. Early chart numbers from overseas show amazing debuts in non-Spanish speaking countries like Switzerland (No 1), Italy (No 2) and Germany (No 4).

The video for her first single 'Que Hiciste' has been in the MTV TRL countdown for the last seven weeks. For the month of April, Jennifer will be the Artist of the Month on MTV's new Latin-focused network MTV Tr3s.

Next week, Jennifer will appear on AMERICAN IDOL as the special guest on the Latin-themed show airing Tuesday, April 10th and will perform her single 'Que Hiciste' live on Wednesday, April 11th marking the first time an artist will sing entirely in Spanish on the show. AMERICAN IDOL is the No 1 English-Language TV show for Hispanics.

Last week, Jennifer visited her hometown Bronx, NY to meet over thousands of fans who turned out to celebrate her new album. In early March, she held a special performance to give fans a sneak peak of her album at a Miami arena show. Internationally, Jennifer performed on major TV shows including the Echo Awards in Germany and Operacion Triunfo and Mira Quien Baila in Spain.

Como Ama Una Mujer (How a Woman Loves), her sixth album, is sung entirely in Spanish and was produced by Marc Anthony, Julio Reyes and Estefano. The album, a true labor of love for the artist, is a state-of-the-art Latin pop effort that marks Lopez's growth into a new musical maturity. Lopez has recorded in Spanish before – her first demo was called 'Vivir Sin Ti,' and in 1999 she had a massive international duet hit with Marc Anthony, 'No Me Ames.'

Following her breakthrough Golden Globe nominated role as Selena and box office hits OUT OF SIGHT and THE CELL, in 2000 Jennifer Lopez kicked off a stellar musical career with her debut album On The 6. The album which has sold in excess of 6.7 million worldwide, spawned numerous hits including 'Waiting For Tonight,' 'If You Had My Love,' and 'Let's Get Loud.' In the same year, Jennifer won the Kids' Choice Award for Favorite New Music Artist and one of many ALMA Awards for Female Entertainer of the Year. In 2001, Jennifer Lopez made history when she became the first woman to have the number one movie and number one album in the same week when THE WEDDING PLANNER, co-starring Matthew McConaughey, was the nation's top-grossing film and her second album, 'J.Lo,' debuted at No 1 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart. The album – which has now sold over 8 million worldwide – led by smash hit 'Love Don't Cost A Thing' was followed up by two number one Hot 100 pop hits 'Ain't It Funny' and 'I'm Real' featuring Ja Rule.
