"I respect the South and the fact that they are doing it right now," she explains, "Everybody deserves their time to shine, however a lot of New York artists are not getting the attention that they deserve in today's music industry. I am simply representing what I know and where I'm from." Born in Brooklyn New York, to Trinidadian parents, Kween Ka$h seamlessly and effortlessly fuses Hip Hop, Reggae, and Soca into her debut album, "Pure Fire", scheduled for release in Spring 2007. The album features production from various up-and-coming beat smiths such as Joe Morales, The GoldBarz, Soleternity, G-Man, Fire Shaun, Menyu and various other contributors. "My album is 100% me...Kween Ka$h." she says, "I barely listen to commercial radio so I'm not easily influenced by what everyone else is doing. You won't be able to pigeonhole me in any one category."
Kween Ka$h definitely pays homage to the recording artists that helped shape her decision to embark on a career as an emcee. Kween Ka$h lists Queen Latifah as her number one influence as female rapper. Says Ka$h, "I respect Biggie for his lyrics, legacy and delivery, and especially because he carried Brooklyn on his back." Kween Ka$h also credits No Doubt's Gwen Stefani, Lady Saw, Allison Hinds, Mary J. Blige, and Janet Jackson as huge influences amidst her quest to become a successful recording artist.
