New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Sedgwick and Cedar) - Ray Riccio, CEO of The Heritage
Brand of Hip Hop announced a strategic alliance with
Glenn Toby, former hip hop legend and now one of the most respected Sports & Entertainment Agents in the industry.
Sedgwick & Cedar launched in 2005 with much success and can be found in more than 200 premier US retailers and 12 countries but they are not going to stop there.
Ray Riccio states, "Mr. Glenn Toby epitomizes excellence in everything he does from his personal life, successful businesses to his charitable work. We thought it was important to forge an alliance with someone special who has the same vision of paying respect to the heritage of hip hop culture, creating a leading lifestyle brand that allows us to do good works from our success. Glenn combines a unique talent with his understanding of the rich heritage of hip hop, and at the same time, the scope of the global business opportunities for Sedgwick & Cedar world-wide."
The company was founded by CEO Ray Riccio and launched with the support of legendary Hip Hop pioneers DJ Kool Herc, Grand Master Caz, Afrika Bambaataa, Melle Mel, Grand Wizzard Theodore, Chief Rocker Busy Bee and Sha-Rock who all lend their names and likenesses to the brand.
Sedgwick & Cedar is where the cultural revolution of Hip Hop began from humble beginnings in an impoverished Bronx section of New York. The first house party of hip hop was thrown on August 11, 1973 in a small community room by DJ Kool Herc at 1520 Sedgwick Ave. Soon his packed party moved outside and down the street to Cedar Park, drawing thousands throughout the night to see the birth of the art form.
Glenn Toby is a respected entertainment/sports agent and entrepreneur who is a celebrated contributor to the book "Souls of My Brothers" written by Candace Sandy and Dawn Marie Daniels, and is the founder of the Book Bank Foundation. The foundation's purpose is to provide youth with reading materials, mentors, and rewards to foster the fight against illiteracy and homelessness.
Mr Toby, having grown up in Queens, the former old school lyricist known on the street as Sweety G (a battle rapper) turned the sour taste of homelessness and despair into success and prosperity. Hustling his way from city streets to Wall Street, Glenn Toby has been giving back every step of the way. Whether he's contributing to the worlds of music through his writing, sports through his ability to negotiate the best deals for his clients or making power moves in the market like Sedgwick & Cedar are usually for the benefit of someone other than himself.
The alliance will work on many levels from building brand exposure for Sedgwick & Cedar with major entertainers and athletes. The company plans to forge alliances with other global consumer brands under Glenn Toby portfolio. Sedgwick & Cedar is committed to develop an outreach platform for charitable support to Book Bank Foundation. Mr. Toby will report directly to Mr. Riccio in his advisory role.
Ray Riccio has proven that he is an innovative entrepreneur that is able to add to the Hip Hop culture & lifestyle without compromising its legacy. Sedgwick & Cedar is a company that is responsible and sensitive to not just the hip hop icons but the consumers and the art form, they are trying bring more to the table than they take away, thats rare in any business.
My deep roots in the history of hip hop demanded me to join Sedgwick & Cedar, Partnering with the Riccio brothers and joining a great team of legends such as DJ Kool Herc, Grand Master Caz, Afrika Bambaataa, Melle Mel, Grand Wizzard Theodore, Chief Rocker Busy Bee and Sha-Rock is gives us an edge in the marketplace.
