(Soul beach Music Festival) - Alicia Keys and Luther Vandross were the two headliners at the second annual Soul Beach Music Festival, which took place on Friday and Saturday (June 7 and 8) at American Airlines Arena in Miami. The festival kicked with an impressive set by funk-soul heroes Cameo, a group that has been rocking crowds for more than 25 years. Cameo was followed by Musiq and then headliner Keys, who performed most of her 5 million-selling debut album, Songs In A Minor, from behind a piano--with the exception of "Girlfriend," for which she enlisted the help of her hype man, Freak Nasty, and several dancers. Backstage, Musiq shared his thoughts on returning to the Soul Beach Music Festival for the second year in a row: "Soul Beach, it's a good combination--kinda like soul food and soul music, mixing the soul and the beach. It's a good thing. Basically I just want to contribute myself, Musiq, to a situation like this. I always like to support people who support soul music. It's a beautiful thing and I'd like to come back as many times as possible." The second night of the festival featured performances by Morris Day & the Time, Angie Stone, and Vandross. Fans were left cheering and urging Vandross for an encore at the conclusion of his 45-minute set, but the singer did not return to the stage following an instrumental set by his band and a solo by his drummer.
