MIAMI, FL. (The Pen Group) - The internationally renowned duo-piano team Chipak & Kushnir will treat South Dade residents to a spectacular program of four-hand piano masterworks spanning three centuries Saturday, January 13 at 3 PM, at a free concert in the Sanctuary at ArtSouth in Homestead, sponsored by the Dranoff International Two Piano Foundation. The concert by the brilliant Ukrainian duo also will include the presentation of $1,000 in cash prizes, including a $400 1st prize, to South Dade children who took part in the 'Dranoff Gets Down with ArtSouth' Art Competition, created in partnership with Ellie Schneiderman, ArtSouth's Founder, and Homestead area public schools. Students' art works inspired by Dranoff artist performances at their schools in 2006 were judged by area professional artists and will be exhibited as part of the program. Since 1998, when Olha Chipak and Oleksiy Kushnir started to play together, their duo has become one of the most renowned contemporary piano duos. Chipak and Kushnir were laureates of numerous prestigious national and international competitions including the Silver prize winners in the 2003 Dranoff International Two Piano Competition held in Miami. The youthful artists' January 13 program will offer four-hand piano masterworks from the Classical, Romantic and Modern eras, including a Two-Piano Sonata by Mozart, Mendelssohn's vibrant 'Allegro Brilliante,' and two 20th century favorites, Ravel's pulsating 'La Valse' and the colorful 'Scaramouche Suite,' penned by French-born composer Darius Milhaud.
