Seattle, WA. (www.canarypromo.com/argo) -- Seattles Argo is gearing up to release Attack of the Firebots on Ana-them Records. Argos dreamy, hook-laden indie-pop moves seamlessly between guitar-driven rockers, ethereal analog synth soundscapes, and danceable beats. The bands fourth release and third on Ana-them is thick with infectious harmonies that led Tablet Magazine to boldly declare, “If music is your medicine, Argo is the band you dont want to miss.”
The 70s animated series Star Blazers inspired Argos name and the themes for Attack of The Firebots. The band – named for the spaceship “the Argo” – envisioned a battle between a “Firebot” and the ship, according to bassist/vocalist Jon Wooster. The enhanced CD also includes a video highlighting Joe Alterios artwork that tells the story of the sinking ship. “The idea for the artwork came out of an insomniac spell I was having a while back,” Wooster says.
Notoriously known as one of the hardest working bands in Seattle, Argos preternatural ability to create perfect rock gems seems effortless, both in recordings and on the stage. The band has strengthened their craft through endless gigs, sharing the stage on tour with fellow indie-pop bands such as Aqueduct, Architecture in Helsinki, and Viva Voce.
Argos 2004 release Jet Packs for Everyone received widespread college radio play and garnered substantial critical acclaim. The bands “liberal vintage keyboard sounds sit smartly alongside the indie-rock textures, until DAMN! Hooks galore”, professed Seattles The Stranger. The Big Takeover praised the bands “melodic pop enchantments” and called Jet Packs “an album that you can believe in.” With the success of that album Argo was named a finalist in Seattles 2005 Emerging Music Awards.
Songwriters/multi-instrumentalists/vocalists Justin Benson and Matt Benham have a longstanding history, having played together since childhood before founding Argo in 2001. They were later joined by Wooster. Though members of the band joined at different times, Argos musical vision is united as songs are written collaboratively. And it shows, especially at Argos spirited live shows where the band routinely lets intuition and teamwork push them to the next level.
On record, Argo captures the same vivacious energy of their live performance. With Attack of the Firebots, the band packs enough warmth to melt the hardest of cynics who claim the Pacific Northwest doesnt have more to offer.

"Argo's melodic pop enchantments drift out shy and slow but uplifting, and then they trip off into a sweet indie rock jazzy tumble that catches you off balance… These sweet pop gems fall and grow into something wider, more expansive, as the harmonics groove and the vocals move you. The rhythms sway your hips and it's good - it's something that just keeps moving until you have an album that you can believe in." – The Big Takeover
"A hazy dream-pop act with candied melodies cascading through delicate keyboard work." – The Stranger
"…blissful indie rock… If music is your medicine, Argo is the band you don't want to miss.” – Tablet Magazine
