Los Angeles, CA. (Smash Mouth Official Website) --Race fans attending next Sunday's Checker Auto Parts 500, NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race at Phoenix International Raceway (1:00 pm MST on NBC) will enjoy a pre-race performance on the Budweiser Stage by multi-platinum selling rock band Smash Mouth. Shifting racing excitement into high gear, Smash Mouth will take the stage at 10:45 a.m. for their pre-race performance. The Checker Auto Parts 500 is the Semi-Final race in NASCAR's 2006 Chase for the NEXTEL Cup.

A long time NASCAR fan, Smash Mouth's lead singer, Steve Harwell and the rest of the band will present the Victory Junction Gang Camp, a member of the NASCAR Foundation Family of charities, with a $40,000 check during pre-race ceremonies. The donation is being made in loving memory of Steve and Michelle Harwell's son, Presley Scott, who suffered from leukemia. The Harwell's hope their donation to the camp will allow more children with illnesses like leukemia to attend the Victory Junction Gang Camp.

The prolific, multi-platinum selling band Smash Mouth has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide. Widely acclaimed for its ultra catchy, melodically infectious hybrid, their self-made debut Fush Yu Mang, featured the #1 Modern Rock Radio hit – "Walkin' In The Sun." In 1999, the release of Astro Lounge set up their pop pinnacle with the lead single "All Star," topping three national radio charts and hitting #4 on the Billboard Hot 100. The CD sold more than three million copies while climbing to #6 on the album sales charts. The group's self-titled third album went Gold, and produced fun-loving tracks "Pacific Coast Party," and "I'm A Believer" which was prominently featured in the film "Shrek." Currently, the band has just released their new CD, Summer Girl, on their very own Beautiful Bomb Records (RED Distribution), produced by Jeff Saltzman (The Killers) and longtime collaborator Eric Valentine. The band's first single "Story Of My Life" hit the Top 20 at Hot AC Radio; and their new single "So Insane" is currently at radio, and is also featured in the Revolution/Sony film "Zoom" starring Tim Allen and Courtney Cox.
