NEW YORK, NY. (Universal Motown Records) -- Universal Motown Records has signed celebrated actor and musician
Drake Bell, and will release the popular, multi-talented singers new CD, Its Only Time on December 5th. Its the second album for Bell, (his self-produced Telegraph premiered in 2005) and marks the Universal Motown debut for the breakout guitarist, pianist and singer.
Bells first single from his forthcoming album, “I Know,” produced and written by Bell and band mates Michael Corcoran and C.J Abraham, is already generating a strong buzz at radio and online with its vintage feel and catchy chorus. An avid Beatles fan, the singer hints that the new disc will reflect his past musical influences, but also add some new colors to the singer/songwriters canvas. The catchy theme song “Found A Way,” from his hit Nickelodeon series Drake and Josh, also appears on the new disc.
The “I Know” video further showcases Bells unique vision with its high-energy and 60s throwback vibe. The video was directed by famed director Neon(Black Eyed Peas, Sergio Mendes) and is expected to premiere on MTVs TRL this week.
Universal Motown is promoting the release by offering fans who purchase Its Only Time a limited edition DVD containing “behind the scenes” Nickelodeon footage plus outtakes from Drake's photo shoot, an acoustic performance, and the “I Know” video. The commercial CD will also contain a free Drake Bell sticker. One lucky fan will win a private concert for ten friends at their home if the product sticker on the cd matches a special code!
The charismatic artist is making time outside of the last season of his hit Nickelodeon TV series, Drake & Josh, to lay down the finishing touches on the much anticipated disc. Bell has written most of the songs on the new effort, and composes all the music his character performs on the hit show. The accomplished musician is also known as a first-rate guitar player. Hes been playing the instrument since he was 13, (his first was a classic Gretsch 160) and even received personal guitar lessons from none other than The Whos legendary front-man Roger Daltrey while filming the movie Chasing Destiny in 2004. Drake also formed a band early in his career, and currently performs live with the Drake Bell Band, garnering raves when they took the stage at Nickelodeons hip-hop tinged comedy show All That, which has also featured performances by superstars such as Justin Timberlake, among others.
Drake Bell began his acting career at the age of 5, and attended the prestigious Orange County High School Of The Arts. He has appeared in numerous TV roles and movies, (but still claims to love live performing over TV work) with his big break coming in 2004 when he was cast as Drake on the Drake & Josh Show, benefiting from his acclaimed appearances on the Nickelodeon sketch-comedy series The Amanda Show. Drake took home the Kids Choice Award in 2006 for Favorite TV Actor for his role on Drake & Josh, with the show winning Favorite TV Show, as well.
