According to Recording Industry Association of America statement, sales of downloaded music almost doubled to $417.2 million, while revenue from ring-tones and music videos for mobile phones also almost doubled. Digital sales have increased as consumers switch away from older recording formats, such as CDs and tapes, whose revenue fell 15 percent.
