Chicago, Il. (BET television/R Kelly Fans Website) - Grammy-winning R&B superstar R. Kelly is reportedly set to do his first major post-sex-scandal interview. Black Entertainment Television (BET) is reporting that Kelly will address the allegations that he videotaped himself having sex with minors, as well as the toll the scandal has taken on his personal life and career, when he sits down this week for a one-on-one talk with BET's Ed Gordon. Gordon, the award-winning host of the nightly news show BET Tonight, said, "His representative contacted us and said Mr. Kelly wanted to talk about the allegations. Many people have said they wanted to hear from him. Now America will hear his side of the story." The interview is scheduled to air on BET Tonight on Wednesday (May 8) at 11:30 p.m. ET. As Illinois authorities investigate the sex scandal, R. Kelly has remained mostly quiet, with the exception of interviews he gave with members of the local media in Chicago and a February talk with Gordon. Kelly has maintained his innocence and said that people trying to squeeze money out him fabricated the tape. Kelly made his claims even as he settled some of the suits filed by those involved in the controversy.
