LOS ANGELES, CA. (Luck Media & Marketing) - Renowned rock producer and engineer Sylvia Massy - whose resume includes Tool,
System of a Down, Tom Petty, Red Hot
Chili Peppers and
Aerosmith - built her state-of-the-art RadioStar Studios and started her indie label
National Recorder in the Northern California town of Weed.
While her growing roster boasts cutting-edge artists from all over the world, she's launching National Recorder with the debut album from The Skies Of America, a popular Los Angeles band driven by the vision of singer/songwriter Rob Bonfiglio. The band also includes former 10 Speed drummer Pete Burke, Kicking Harold founder Tim David Kelly on bass and former Dogstar frontman Bret Domrose on guitar.
The group's infectious debut single 'Shine' - also the album's title track - is currently being promoted to Triple AAA and college radio, and is receiving airplay from New Haven, Connecticut, to Portland, Oregon. The album drops on October 17.
'When my manager Frank McDonough referred the project to me, I was very surprised that band wasn't on a major label,' says Massy. 'My goal with this company is to work with artists that inspire me with a great sound and strong, clever songwriting, and The Skies Of America has all that and more.'
Before recording Shine, The Skies Of America already had a busy schedule of local gigs and touring - their latest month-long tour kicks off at Hollywood's Knitting Factory on October 10 - and numerous television appearances. The band has appeared backing artists on 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,' 'Good Morning America,' 'Live With Regis & Kelly,' 'On-Air With Ryan Seacrest,' 'Howard Stern' and ABC's 'The View.'
Several key songs on the band's 12-song debut have been featured in movies and television shows. 'Fascination' appears in the Myriad Pictures film Eulogy starring Ray Romano, Hank Azaria and Kelly Preston. 'Get Up, Get On' appeared in episodes of MTV's pseudo reality series 'Laguna Beach.' That cut and 'Shine' will also appear in the film and on the soundtrack to the upcoming National Lampoon's Van Wilder II.
